Newcomer Joie Lenz won unexpected raves on Guiding Light last March when she played the trampy teen clone of Reva (Kim Zimmer) for only nine days. "She turned out to be too good. I had to find a way to bring her back as somebody else," says GL chief Paul Rauch, who has given Lenz a long-term contract and the role of Michelle Bauer, the complex teen previously played by Rachel Miner (Mrs. Macaulay Culkin) and currently by Rebecca Budig, a Brooke Shields look-alike who is departing this month to seek greener pastures. The 17-year-old Lenz, a New Jersey high school senior and frequent Web browser, says, "There's been mixed response on the Internet message boards. A lot of people aren't happy about the switch, even though Rebecca chose to leave. Others think it's odd I'm coming back so soon in another part. Hopefully, I can get them to warm up to me. Besides, how odd can it be for people who just sat through a cloning story?" — Michael Logan |
