This year the races are hotly contested in many categories. The buzz on the street is this will be the most highly attended and anticipated Soap Opera Digest Award show in years. Here is a SoapCity preview of all the nominees in each category and our "guestimate" of who leads the pack going into Friday night. Outstanding Lead Actress:

Susan Flannery (Stephanie, Bold & Beautiful)
Jess Walton (Jill, Young & Restless)
Kim Zimmer (Reva, Guiding Light)

Zimmer ahead by nose over Walton, although Flannery had a banner year.

Outstanding Lead Actor:

David Canary (Adam/Stuart, All My Children)
Anthony Geary (Luke, General Hospital)
Robert S. Woods (Bo, One Life To Live)

Voters will go for Luke! GH's Tony Geary will be in the winner's circle.

Favorite Actress:

Kristian Alfonso (Hope, Days Of Our Lives)
Sarah Brown (Carly, General Hospital)
Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Young & Restless)

Alfonso for her dual roles, Sarah Brown, who carried GH, Melody, who also had a banner year. It will be tough call for the fans.

Favorite Actor:

Eric Braeden (Victor, Young & Restless)
Maurice Benard (Sonny, General Hospital)
Kin Shriner (Scott, Port Charles)

Favorite Couple:

Lily & Holden, As The World Turns (Martha Byrne & Jon Hensley)
Michelle and Danny, Guiding Light (Joie Lenz & Paul Anthony Stewart)
Viki & Ben, One Life To Live (Erika Slezak & Mark Derwin)

GL's Danny and Michelle made fans stand up and root!
