Ellis Peters
Ellis Peters is the pen name of Edith Mary Pargeter.
Born in Shiropshire on 28 September 1913.
She worked as a chemist's assistant and the outbreak of the Second World War
gave her to join the Women's Royal Navy Service(1941). And she received in 1944
the British Empire Medal. Her first novel is "Hortensius, Friend of Nero"(1936).
She pulished historical novels and mystery novels and translations of Czech literature.
She received the Edgar Allan Poe award by Mystery Writers of America for the best novel
for "Death and Joyful Woman" and the British Crime Writers Association's Silver Dagger for
"Monk's Hood", and Cartier Diamond Dagger awards,and an OBE(Order of the British Empire).
She died in 1995 at the age of 82.
