The road was bad............the road was good

To conquer Australia overland by bicycle may be quite an achievement, but I had still an unsatisfactory feeling. The distance was large enough, but the riding is very easy along the Stuart Highway, which has a tarmac sealing over the full length. After the first two weeks I longed for some more adventure and I decided to go along the Oodnadatta Track: about 600 kilometers of track through the desert. I bought two heavy tires in Alice Springs but my bike, a simple road bike, wasn't actually suitable for the task. Anyway, I was full of excitement when I started in Marla on June 1st.
