Forty days' bike tour across Australia, by Jan Boonstra.
A flat tyre
A flat tyre. I am always prepared for this, but it is still always unexpected. On this trip I had totally four or five. This means a flat tyre about once every 1000 kilometres, or once every nine days. Good score. This picture was taken in the Murray River Valley, in the state of New South Wales. During my tour I was one day in New South Wales, between Mildura and Euston. After I crossed the Murray River again into Victoria, I cycled into a wine-region. The vineyards, the villages and the chilly morning-haze made me feel as if I were riding in Europe. South of Swan Hill, the landscape became bare and flat. A few days of rain and windy weather made this part of the tour the most boring, until I reached Bendigo.
