In the seventy's, Dakota DC3 prop engine planes were still widely used and I had the unforgettable experience flying in one from Lomé to Cotonou (West Africa). When standing on the ground, the DC3 points it's nose into the air and while boarding the plane in the back, you find a big rope along the aisle to help you 'climbing' to the front. After take-off, it won't climb to high altitudes, because the passengers are exposed to the outside airpressure during the flight. I still hear the roaring engines and see the African jungle gliding past underneath.
