Fortunately I am hearing about Homebrewing of GDO from SM0VPO, Hally, the developer. It's very meaning to me and local HAMs of the our country because I am going to try Homebrew all together through Internet Network.  A main Problem of making is to get some parts, poly-varicons, micro ammeter.  By rapid technological speed, it's difficult to get them. "out of date parts."  But this is a very useful instrument for HAM Life.  And I know that you want to get this also.

Thanks to SM0VPO again !

Happy new year. I made GDO homebrew. But, my GDO got always an unknown dip on about 1/2 capacitor turn.(at coil :19+19. 0.8mm/diametr, 4.5MHz - 16.5Mhz, plastic case, FET:SK125).I dont know why to happen this dip.PLS inform me the solution. 73!

Hi Kwon, and a happy New Year to you too. The GDO may have the odd dip due to resonances in the wiring. Under normal circumstances, you will see an acceptable variation of the meter as you tune across the band, but you should not see any narrow dips. Have another look at your wiring. Use the chassis/case of the unit as a common earth/ground/chassis termination. Keep ALL cables short. If all else fails, try using a different tuning capcitor. I have met the odd cheap plastic cap that had a resonance. - - - BR Harry

Thank you for your kind inform. I have t to try to change a case or a capaitor.73!

If you have built the project without a case then this is most certainly your problem - radio does not know the difference between the wire of a coil and the wire of power supply and connecting wires. All look exactly the same to oscillating electrons. We have therefore got to do something to tell them, such as use a metal chassis with low inductance. Decoupling capacitors across power lines every time there is a bit of "hanging" wire (otherwise it is an inductor). Tuning caps also have inductance that gives then a resonant frequency, this is your enemy. It would have been nice to see a photo of your project, but you can see mine on the homepages. I did give some very specific drawings that show you how to wire up the GDO for low inductance. - - BR Harry
