Leaving Vancouver, near to the border of United States, to the east for the start of a scenic drive along the north side of the Fraser River, you will reach Maple Ridge area where is famous of 'The Beast' and 'Haney House'.  There are some beautiful long lakes as well.

Farther east along the Fraser River you can also meet Mission, home of the Ruskin Dam and the Fraser River Heritage Regional Park.  Roy lives on the high altitude at about the six hundred foot level, near to Mission.

He is the Municipal Amateur Coordinator for the District of Mission, which means he is responsible for the emergency preparedness of all the hams in the area.  You can visit the Mission Ham Club webpage to http://www.freeyellow.com/members2/ve7ibj/index.html

Actually, We haven't had a real radio QSO because Roy has got only V,UHF facilities. The connection was made through the Internet Hamgate.  I accessed the TAMPA Hamgate in Florida on Telnet and he used VHF packet to the Hamgate via digipeater.  Landline in my side and radio connection from his side.  Would you be able to say that's an Amateur Radio ?

Anyhow, it is a good way to have stable QSOs, regardless of radio propagation.  It was also fun when I occasionally met some hams whom I had already met on HF.
