VK4BTF    by HL5BTF

name : Bernard Witjes
QTH   : Murgon, QLD, Australia

Bernie migrated from Holland to Australia when he was young.  I talked to him first in 1987 in my university days, and since then, we have had regularly scheduled contacts on the radio. He did really good to me and He wanted me to call him grandpa, so I started to call him 'OPA' which means grandpa in dutch

Before I graduated from my university, I told him that I wouldn't be able to talk to him so often. He was very sorry to hear that and eventually he sent a whole set of HF radio and antenna.  So we could keep the scheduled conversations even after my graduation.

To celebrate our beautiful friendship through the radio, he got a full license which might be very hard for him as an old aged person and also changed his callsign into VK4BTF, same suffix with me.

<Bernie visited HL0M, Pusan National Univ Radio Club Station. This is the place all these stories started>

I first met him in person in 1993 when we visited Australia.  We could recognize each other in one glance at the airport because we had been looking forward to the time for a long time.

He also visited Korea and stayed with us for about 2 months.  By the way, we became to know that he had been suffered from prostate problem and he was going to get the operation for that.  I really worried about that and took care of him with all my heart.

I happened to know from my father in law that the pollen is the right medicine for curing prostate problem.  Bernie started to take a spoonful of pollen after meal. In a week, he felt better and got to turn for the better little by little. After all, the pain had almost gone away

He said he got a new life in Korea.  When he came back to Australia, the doctor asked "What happened in Korea, Bernie?"   I wonder how much the doctor expressed surprise at Bernie's answer.

We wish his longevity with a beautiful hobby, Ham Radio.

We can't tell you that the
pollen is always effective for the prostate problem.  It worked well for Bernie but might not work for you. Maybe it depends on your physical constitution which, as far as I know, is very important thing in Oriental medicine.
