Rick has one of the most beautiful Ham Radio locations in the world.  Fox Mountain Lodge is situated on 20 acres of natural bushland at the end of a mountain spur.  The Lodge has sweeping views of 200 degrees, cutting an arc from the Glasshouse Mountains in the North, to the Moreton Bay Islands in the east, right through to Brisbane City and the Gold Coast in the South.

There are all mono-band antennas on two towers for 20m-10m and also VHF and UHF. For low bands, 40meters Delta Loop, 80m Inv.V. and 75m Bobtail curtain and 160m dipole. Some fixed beams: 3el on 75m and 4el, 40m to the specific directions.

Rick used to be very active on the radio but I haven't heard him so often these days. It seems like that he has been busy with his accommodation business.  Once in a while, I could hear the other hams running his radio there.

He likes to meet people in person very much so there have been many visitors to his place.  He started Ham Shack accommodation business couple of years ago which is a kind of hobby-base business.  Now, the lodge is well known to the general public in his local area and the business may keep him busy.  Soon they are building Cedar Cabins for guests to use while looking at beautiful views.

It still seems that the lodge is a good place for hams.  You can enjoy Ham Radio with full equipped gears and antennas on the good location, having a relax of an escape from the city and breathing fresh air.  If you can tear yourself away from all this, you can do some 4 wheel drive adventure tours.  e.g. Forty mile beach, with the Blue Pacific on your right, and 200 meter high cliffs of weather sculptured sand formation on your left.

While we were staying there at the lodge for a couple of hours, not only did we enjoy Julie's delicious food, but we could also found that Rick is a really nice and friendly person.

When we visited there, we met A92GD at the airport on his way back from the lodge.
