After the onset of the economic crisis in South Korea in 1997, the government and major corporations, under control of IMF, tried to fire thousands of workers for restructuring, it brought nation-wide defiance. More than 30.000 Hyundai Motors workers also went on a strike to keep their jobs in august, 1998.
