For Jan Janse Weltevree, or Pak Y n, see Buys, pp. 8-9, 14-19, 36-37; and Ledyard, pp. 25-37, 51-54, 60-63, 88-90. Weltevree had been captured upon landing on the eastern coast of Kyngsang Province in 1628, at about the age of 32. According to Hamel he was still living in Seoul in 1666, at which time he was around 70.
