April 20, 1999 The first scene is with Bill and Danny still arguing outside the diner. Bill is yelling at Danny and saying "Oh, so you want me to stay away from your sister - well your the only one that she doesn't want to have anything to do with - you and your mother". Danny jumps in and says he had managed to protect Pilar her entire life until Bill came along and shot off his mouth. Bill says you can justify anything can't he and what you're blaming me because your family had to send away the only good person in it? Danny asks Bill if he's out of his mind because he doesn't know a thing about his family and tells Bill not to push his luck. Bill asks Danny if thats a threat and says that he's not afraid of him. He says that Danny married his best friend and made her life a life a living hell so he will say anything he wants about Danny and the family. Danny is just looking at Bill and Bill says that as for Pilar she's not the naive little girl Danny thinks she is.not even close. Then we go to Carmen and Pilar at the compound.Carmen says she is glad Pilar is there so they can spend some time alone together and discuss her going back to school. Carmen says she knows Pilar wants to be at home but she only has one more year at school and she can be home next summer. Pilar says she can't go back to school because she slept with a professor there and she's pregnant and when they found out at school they threw her out for good. Of course Carmen freaks out and demands to know the name of the professor and Pilar says "Why, so you can kill him?" Carmen asks what she's talking about and Pilar says it what you do isn't it mother, when someone betrays or hurts the family.she says like what she did to Michelle after Mick's died. Carmen tries to deny it but Pilar says stop lying Mother - you should know by now what it's like to be lied to. Carmen realizes Pilar isn't pregnant and Pilar says what were you thinking just now - that you wished you didn't have a daughter - well welcome to my world mother, because now I know exactly who you are and what you do.goes to commercial We go back to Danny and Bill. Danny is telling Bill that he doesn't know a thing about Pilar so don't pretend to and Bill says I only had to know Pilar 5 minutes to know she's not like you, lucky for her. Danny tells Bill he hopes he enjoyed them because they are the last he will spend with her. Bill asks why because Pilar sees through Danny and she was smart enough to use him to get the truth about Danny. Danny asks Bill if he's trying to set him off by talking about things he knows nothing about and Bill says he doesn't know anything about people like Danny but he told Pilar about what people like Danny do to people like Michelle. Danny says oh, I see this is about Michelle. Bill says it is and that getting away from Danny was the best thing that ever happened to Michelle.why don't you do your little sister the same favor? Another preemption goes off and we see mama and Pilar arguing. Pilar is taunting Carmen by saying she wants to learn about the family business - what it's like to watch someone die - show her how to make someone die. Carmen is crying and begging saying she never wanted this for Pilar - she tried to keep her away from all this - she wanted the world from her. Pilar says she had been grooming Danny and Mick to become the head of the family and what was she grooming her for - to marry her off to another family. Carmen denies it and says she wanted the world for her. Pilar tells Carmen not to try her tears on her - she will never believe them and she will never believe her and she will never forgive her. We go to Danny and Bill.they have calmed down.Danny is leaning up against the wall. he asks Bill what is in this for him - what does he want with Pilar? Bill says there's nothing in this for me - she's just someone he helped out. Danny says he really helped a lot - mission accomplished. Bill asks Danny what he's getting at and Danny says you gave her your phone number - she's gonna use it - he knows she is. Bill thinks Danny is threatening him to stay away from Pilar. Danny says if she calls you.I want you to do whatever she asks - he wants Bill to look out for her. Bill asks what's the catch and Danny says there's no catch - things are going to get a little crazy around here - she's his sister and he loves her - and says that Bill doesn't really want him for an enemy. Danny starts to walk away and Bill asks where are you gonna go and Danny says he's just gonna drive. We go to Carmen who is telling Pilar that everything she did - she did for her. Pilar says she's never been a part of this family and thank God she never will be. Carmen asks what she will do and Pilar says she'll figure it out - she's practically been living on her own her whole life anyway. Carmen says with her money and Pilar says she never asked her for anything. Carmen says she loved everything(cars, apartment, clothes, etc.) that her "bloody hands" had worked to pay for. Pilar says if she had to pick between blood money and a city shelter - she'll take the city shelter any day of the week.she walks out and uses the phone to call someone and asks them to pick her up. ****We see Danny walking into the lighthouse. He asks himself what he's doing there and says he should've kept driving. he sits down and has a flashback of the night he and Michelle started to make love there when they were trying to convince Jesse. he rubs his face and sighs. he hears a noise and starts to walk toward the door. the door opens and it's Michelle, in her nightgown, brushing her hair. she has a look of hopeful anticipation/contentment on her face. There was a preemption in between these scenes but I don't think we missed any of it. Michelle walks in and keeps brushing her hair . Danny: uh. what are you doing here? Michelle: Actually I never left. Danny: What do you mean. you didn't go visit your father? Michelle: No. no. I just kind of needed some time to think. you know. Danny: smiles. What you've been holed up here at this time? Michelle: pretty much. yeah. so that explains why I'm here but I guess my question would be. why are you? Scene closes on Danny's face.
