May 7, 1999 Carmen walks into Y2K Club. She's looking for Pilar. YKW and Selena are at the bar talking about Max. Carmen: (Spanish word) May I have a word with you? Pilar: No, mother, I'm busy. Besides, I thought I made it clear that I didn't want to see you anymore. Carmen: I understand that, but it's about the family. Pilar: What? Did the police catch you or something? Carmen: Daniel was kidnapped from the hospital by Michelle Bauer. Pilar: Kidnapped, really mother, aren't you getting a little melodramatic? Carmen: She was the only one who could have done it. She had to have had help and I know that you were at Cedars earlier. I know it was you. Pilar: That's just... Carmen: I'm not angry. I know that Michelle tried to make you think that it was the right thing to do, ok? Pilar: Just stop it, mother. Just go home and leave me alone. Carmen: Not until you tell me where your brother is. Pilar: You're wasting your time. I don't know anything about Danny's kidnapping. And even if I did I wouldn't tell you, because wherever he is and whoever he's with he's GOT to be better off without you. Pilar walks off. At the Lighthouse, Michelle is making tea. Danny is reclining on the bed. (Note from elf: Can we please take up a collection to replace that twin bed in the Lighthouse??? ) Please note that Danny is still weak and he talks kind of "groggy"---in other words, not his usual dynamic self, yet! Danny: Michelle, I don't understand. I thought that you and Pilar were taking me home. Why are we here? Michelle: Shhh. Don't worry about anything, alright, Danny? Listen, everything we need is right here, okay? Danny: Michelle, what's going on? Michelle: I'm going to take care of you. I brought you here for a very specific reason. Danny: You want to tell me what it is? Michelle: Do you remember at the hospital when you told me about the last thing that you remember was saying goodbye to me? Danny: Yeah, and driving to the airport, that's it. Michelle: So, something must have happened, right? Something must have made you turn around and drive back to Springfield. Danny: Yeah, but what, like what? Michelle: I don't know, but I know that the truth isn't going to come out unless you're kept away from Carmen. Danny: So, what? You're hiding me from my mother. Michelle: Danny, Danny. She was trying to brainwash you. I couldn't let that happen. (D doesn't' understand) Listen, just listen to me for a second. I don't want to make you do anything that you don't want to do. If you say you want to go home I will take you home, I will. But, the truth is I don't want you to go home, I want you to stay here with me. Carmen: (catches up with Pilar) Pilar, Michelle had to have had help. If it wasn't you, then who else? Pilar: No. I'm not going to join your witch hunt. Carmen: You were there visiting Daniel. Who else were you there to see? I'm going to find out one way or the other, Pilar, why don't you just tell me. Pilar: Look, I have to go to work, mother, excuse me. Carmen: Pilar, WAIT! Carmen spies Drew at the bar talking to Selena. Carmen (talking to herself) If Pilar didn't help Michelle, it had to be her. Carmen: I'd like a word with you Drew. Privately. Selena: Well, you know, Drew's a little busy right now. Drew: No, it's ok Selena. Why don't you just go get some coffee and I'll take care of whatever this is. Selena: Okay. (walks away) Carmen: This is about Daniel. I know what you did and I am VERY upset. Drew: What I did? What? Carmen: Did you think that I wouldn't find out? I know you "pretended" to be Michelle Bauer's friend, but, I know what you're idea of friendship is. Drew: You know, I don't know what you're talking about, so, if you'll excuse me. Carmen: Look. If you just tell me the truth, Drew, nothing bad is going to happen to you. I give you my word. Drew: You don't understand. Carmen: Oh. I understand perfectly well. Drew: It happened ONCE. (enter the quivering lip, arrggghhh) Okay? We were upset, we were drunk, not that that's an excuse or anything, but one thing just lead to another and we... Carmen: So, you and Danny were together? And this all happened while your best friend, Michelle, was still married to him. HMMM, Interesting. And Michelle doesn't know about this, does she? Drew: We were both sorry after it happened, ok? We were hurt. We were alone. We just needed to feel "connected" to someone, ya know. Carmen: I really don't need to hear the details of how you and Daniel "connected." What's done is done. You and Danny will have to live with the consequences. Drew: What happens now? Carmen: Nothing. Drew: Really? Carmen: All I asked for was the truth. Now, do you happen to know where my son is? Drew: No. No. I haven't seen him. And I don't know where... Carmen: And you haven't spoken to Michelle? Drew: No, actually, I know you don't care, but Michelle and I don't speak anymore. I'm with Jesse now. Carmen: Connected with Jesse, hmm? You do get around Drew. (GO CARMEN, GO...AT LEAST SHE CAN CALL A SLUT A SLUT!! ---sorry guys ...couldn't resist that one...back to the show..) Drew: He knows I slept with Danny, okay? But Michelle doesn't and I don't think that she should. Because, she loves Danny, Mrs. Santos, and Danny loves her. Carmen: Oh, don't worry, Drew. The last thing I'd "ever" want to do is "advertise" my son's poor taste in women. (MEOW!!) Carmen walks to the back of the club, under the stairs. Pilar pulls out her trusty cell phone unaware that Mommy Dearest is listening in under the stairs! Pilar: Hey. You said that you would listen to your messages and I just hope that you get this one on time. My mother is looking for you, Michelle. Now I didn't tell her that you were at the Lighthouse but she has spies everywhere so just be very careful, okay? Oh yeah. Tell Danny I love him. And if you need anything, call me. Catwoman comes out from under the stairs with an all-knowing look on her face! WHILE back at the Lighthouse. Michelle is sitting on the side of the bed talking to Danny. Danny: Look. I still don't get why you brought me here, Michelle. Why here? Michelle: Well, I told you... Danny: No..No....I heard...I heard that you want to keep me away from my mother. (Manny music starts...ahhhhhhh) Why did you bring me to the Lighthouse.......this is your place........yours and Jesse's. Michelle: It's "ours" too, Danny. Danny: Well, then that must be very confusing for you then. Michelle: No! Not anymore. Besides, this is the only place that I'm sure that Carmen doesn't know anything about. Danny: Why do you think she'd want to "brainwash" me? I don't.. Michelle: Because she's trying to get you to remember things "HER" way. Danny: About the accident? Michelle: Yes. Danny: So, you and my mother have different theories about my accident? (Yes) What do you think happened? Michelle: I can't tell you. (she sighs) Danny: Come on, you're obviously scared about something that you're not telling me. What's going on? Michelle: (unconvincingly) I just want you to be better. I just want you to get better. Danny: No, I don't believe you. You're scared to death and I've seen that look before..that night at the dock when you thought I was going to kill you. Michelle: (closer and closer) Danny......Danny I'm not "afraid" of you......I haven't been afraid of you in a very, very long time....... Danny: (very husky voice) Are you sure? Michelle leans in.. Danny has his hand cupping the side of her face..and ....you guessed it.... To say what follows is a kiss is such an understatement! Very slow...if I didn't know better I'd say the camera was actually in slow motion. OKAY...NOW visualize this!!! They are VERY CLOSE during this scene. As they talk, Danny is caressing her face with his hand and his thumb is playing with her earlobe and earring....WOOHOOO!! Michelle can't keep her sweet little hands off of his face, constantly stroking his cheek, kissing his forehead. They are speaking in very low voices!! Danny: (foreheads together) I wish we could start over again. Michelle: Me too....oh...me too! (kisses his forehead) But right now I just need you to be safe. (stroking his face) And I don't know why I feel like this, but I feel like you're safe with me. Maybe I just want to ...maybe I just want to believe it...(whispers) But I Do. Danny: I believe it, too....(barely audible) I do. ANOTHER GREAT KISSEROOOO!!!! Danny: Oh my God (as he breaks the kiss off, darn it) I remember something. Michelle: What? Danny: I think I know why I came back. (Ahhhhh....sweet, sweet scene!!!) Back at the Lighthouse--- (btw this is the last scene of the day for GL) Danny: I think I know why I turned my car around. I was speeding my car because I had to get back to you. Michelle: (looks like she's about to cry, she's so happy) Yes. I knew you'd remember this. I knew. KISS AGAIN, very short this time...BECAUSE.... The camera takes us to outside the door. Carmen's hand is on the door knob!!!!
